How to make scented candles smell stronger

When a customer buys a candle, they’re concerned about the size, shape, and packaging of the candle, but it’s the smell that’s the most important consideration when a customer buys a candle, and more importantly, what brings the customer back, what’s the point of a scented candle if you can’t smell it.

So let’s talk about what leads to good smell and how to achieve it.

The first question is the size of your jar and the size of the scene space.

Many people think that the size of a jar is the size or volume of the whole jar. But we’re talking about diameter in particular. The width of your jar determines the size of the melting pool, and the wax on the surface of the candle will give off a fragrance that will escape from the wax and into the air.

So, a bigger or wider jar means a bigger and wider molten pool, which means stronger aroma.

Small candles, are great for things like bathrooms, and for a medium-sized room, you might get something a little wider. Larger candles, such as three wick jars, are used to hold open spaces or large rooms.

Second, proper wick.

Wicks are a neglected part of candle making because many people don’t think Wicks are that important. In fact, the right wick is helpful for odor emission.

For containers in different sizes, you should use different wicks. The larger the candle, the more stringent the requirements for the wick, both in terms of quantity and quality.

A proper wick will create a more perfect flame, allowing the candle to burn more fully, creating a better pool of molten wax.

These all help the flavor to spread.

Third point, wax is a huge factor.

Common waxes are paraffin, soy, palm, beeswax, and coconut wax, they all have pros and cons. No matter how good the quality of the fragrance oil is, they all have to work well with the wax used in the candle mixed. Some waxes have more mixing power than others.

Natural waxes like coconut wax and soy wax absorb aromatic oils faster than other waxes. The density of the wax also affects odor. Soy wax is denser than paraffin wax. Therefore, heating soy wax requires more heat and more time than paraffin wax. This affects how quickly the fragrance oil diffuses. Paraffin wax has a stronger fragrance compared to soy wax.

Fourth, the percentage of scent.

Although the flavor content of candles can be from 5% to 15% , but this does not mean that the more essential oil content, candle burning will be more intense flavor. We have to find a balance, and it’s important to find the point of diminishing returns. After all, the more essential oils you have, the higher the cost. Take soy wax for example. According to our tests, 8% -10% is appropriate and rarely increases to 12% .
